Sometimes an issue concentrates on a theme: for instance no.20 (Summer 1999) was on 'Conserving Russia's Forests', and no.38 (Winter/Spring 2005) focussed on the Russian Far East, particularly the salmon and other fish. RCN also produces a separate series on an occasional basis - 'Biodiversity Briefings from Northern Eurasia' - on specific topics, for example 'Russia's Endangered Seas', 'Kurile Islands'.
Supported by the Center for Russian Nature Conservation (CRNC), RCN can now be twice as proud as it was 5 years ago (see image): issue no.37 (Fall 2004) celebrated 10 years of publishing, and in addition to the usual range of articles there are others on the history of the magazine and on its founder (Margaret Williams), editors, other staff, and volunteers. RCN is a success story, and deserves continued support.
